Recognition of credit

Situation

You have already acquired credits in your home country or at another higher education institution before taking up your studies in Germany. Now you would like to find out whether these are recognized at the university here.

Hintergrundinformation

The recognition of externally acquired accreditations can often only be clarified in individual cases. As a rule, examination offices, study advisors or program directors are responsible for recognition.

Tip

Since certificates of achievement are official documents, the relevant formal criteria must be met. Find out in advance what these are and who is responsible in your case. The documents you need must contain the following information in German or English: Title of the course, form of the course (lecture, seminar, internship, etc.), number of semester hours per week, type of performance and number of performance/ECTS points earned. In any case, all documents must be formally certified.
